• St. John XXIII Service and Outreach Grant Program - This Grant Program assists St. John XXIII Parish by funding innovative service and outreach programs in which parishioners are involved and which respond to Christ’s call to ease human suffering in a way that is consistent with the mission of St. John XXIII parish. (see more information and an application form on the right).

• Justice Knox - This group strives to bring local congregations together to address local concerns and find ways to address them, including structural changes that make a difference. (This is an outreach of the D.A.R.T. Center).

• The ELF Project for A Child's Christmas - The Elf Project for A Child’s Christmas is dedicated to helping parents provide a family Christmas experience for their children. Our Elf volunteers donate their time and financial resources to go Christmas shopping with a parent who needs help providing presents for his or her children.

• Tennessee Interfaith Power and Light - This is a statewide organization of religious groups that attempts to influence state energy producers and consumers towards more sustainable energy use.

The Service and Outreach Grant Program (SOGP) assists St. John XXIII Parish by funding innovative service and outreach programs in which parishioners are involved and which respond to Christ’s call to ease human suffering in a way that is consistent with the mission of St. John XXIII parish. For purpose of this grant program we define the mission of the church to be an organized activity which serves those at the margins of society following the example of Christ.

The Grant Program Committee oversees and implements a process by which parishioners can request parish assistance in funding innovative programs that advance the mission of the parish. Final decisions will be made by the pastor after receiving recommendations from the SOGP committee.

Guidelines for SOGC Grant Awards

• Parishioners may request an award for a program they wish to start or for a program sponsored by a nonprofit organization. The parishioner must be an active participant in the planned program.
• The program must be innovative expanding the outreach of the groups involved.
• Grant awards will not exceed a maximum of $1,250.
• No grant award will cover the full anticipated costs of a project. Every applicant is expected to generate at least 50 percent of project costs from other sources.
• Grant payments will be dispensed on a schedule approved by the SOGC committee. The funds may be used as seed money.
• Grant applications may be made for the same innovative program for no more than 3 years.
• A member of the SOGC committee will be appointed as special liaison for each approved grant to stay close to the project. This liaison will receive the final written report from the grant recipient on behalf of the SOGC committee.
