What is the Daughters of Isabella?
The Daughters of Isabella is a women’s auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus, which means that our organization would operate in a partnership with the Knights to fundraise and hold events. The Daughters of Isabella have a primary focus on Right to Life issues from conception to a natural death.
What are our meeting times? Will it cost money?
Right now, we are required to have one business meeting a month, but we plan to have one or two extra events a month. Potentially service or sisterhood events. Most non-collegiate chapters have dues set at $25 dollars, but the church is (hopefully) going to provide us a budget. We are required to pay $12 dollars for every member of the organization.
What types of events would your organization hold and what would your fundraising effort look like?
We would help organize the Knights’ Spring Formal and a Sadie Hawkins Sock Hop in the fall semester. Additionally, we would help run clothing drives for the Ladies of Charity, bake sales, volunteer with the Salvation Army, book drives for schools and prisons, and visit nursing homes. Based on the overall sentiment from the girls, I think our big service project would be raising money to help fund students from St. John XXIII attending the March for Life in 2023.
